Betting MLB Future Props

When it comes to betting down the road, sometimes it is hard to decipher. That being said, MLB sportsbooks will put longer odds on MLB teams in the futures market due to the always-changing level of uncertainty. Finding a quality team early on in the season or during moments when they are struggling can lead to amazing longshot MLB World Series odds, conference odds and more. Always be aware of the changes in MLB futures odds over the season and you will be ahead of the sportsbook. Even player futures bets are offered for this type of MLB future prop bets.

2021 World Series Odds

The main prop bet for betting on futures is certainly the World Series. These odds are always in flux and getting on top of a certain team before major changes can lead to instant hedging (or letting it ride) opportunities. MLB betting fans don't have to put their money in during spring training, waiting with their money on hold. Though that can be a solid strategy, learning the reset before the MLB playoffs begin allow for even better situations.

San Diego Padres: From the beginning of last season to now, perhaps no team has moved more in the MLB WS odds than the Padres. Starting from the 2020 MLB Playoffs, the San Diego Padres odds were a longshot at +2400. After winning the wild card round, their odds shortened to +800 until they lost three straight games against the LA Dodgers. Moving through the offseason, the 2021 Padres World Series odds leveled around +800 until dropping to +600 after trading for Blake Snell. During the early MLB season, their odds hover around +1000 odds.

Tampa Bay Rays: Even after a very successful 2020 MLB campaign, the Tampa Bay Rays blew up their roster a little bit in the offseason. By trading Blake Snell, the MLB sportsbooks instantly saw an opportunity to raise the odds for the TB Rays to win the World Series. Opening as the fourth shortest team on the 2021 World Series odds board, the Rays jumped to the "just-out-of-playoffs" range, sitting near the middle with around +3000 odds. Look for these baseball odds to continue to drop further, unless they can pull out some victories early on in the season.

Chicago White Sox: With a young talented roster in the clubhouse, the White Sox are starting to really get action at MLB betting sites. With Jose Abreau, Tim Anderson, and Eloy Jiménez having successful 2020 campaigns, the White Sox World Series odds have been right behind them, Opening at +1600, the CWS odds dropped to +1400 after a month and under +1000 less than a month after that. As one of the favorites to win the 2021 World Series, expect to see their odds reduce even further, assuming Abreau's COVID situation doesn't impact the White Sox longterm.

New York Mets: The Mets are a surprising team moving about the 2021 MLB futures odds. Beginning the offseason at +3300 odds, it appeared that the Mets would have another subpar year. However, Steve Cohen purchased the team and his continued promise to deliver saw the World Series odds for the Mets drop to +1400. Less than two months later, Cohen executes a trade to receive Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco, making the Mets odds drop to under +1000 and settle just higher. The NYM signed Lindor ($341 million, 10-year) and are locked in as contenders.

Los Angeles Angels: While the LA Angels odds the team of old, plenty of notable players still have their name mixed in with this club. The Angels World Series odds dropped in half since the February and March offseason to opening day. Those who took an MLB futures bet on the Angels early on behind the likes of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are quite happy. With the Houston Astros favored to win the AL West, LA will have their work cut out for them to make the playoffs. However, as long as the MLB AL MVP favorite is there, they can't be overlooked.

2021 MLB Pennant Odds

While taking the MLB World Series odds are for some, others look deeper into both the American League and National League. Sometimes teams crumble in the big moment but with MLB pennant odds, those backing a favorite in their MLB division may have a better luck when it comes to hitting this MLB futures bet. The payout may not be as extreme as World Series odds, but the job doesn't have to be completed either.

The MLB pennant odds favor the Yankees and Rays on the AL side while the Dodgers are the clear leader in the NL Pennant odds. For 2021, any team can come out ahead though, as COVID could cause some delays, increasing the importance of each game. Look for MLB longshots to win the pennant like the Padres, Braves, or even Indians. There is no wrong selection if made early enough, as hedging becomes the easiest way to bet on the MLB and make a profit. Watch out for these pennant odds to change as the season goes along and compare with their opening ones.

MLB 2021 Division Odds

The 2021 MLB division odds were released on January 15, 2021 this season with betting lines for the MLB divisions including both the American and National League. Between the six MLB divisions, there is plenty of action here with most bettors enjoying the favorites. However, longshots can always hit... like the 2016 Boston Red Sox, who improved by 15 games winning the American League after finishing last in their division the year prior. The Red Sox also improved by 28 wins a few years earlier than that as well as they went from 69 to 97 wins during 2012 and 2013.

As for the 2021 MLB division odds, the normal favorites are on top in the New York Yankees (AL East), LA Dodgers (NL West), and Atlanta Braves (NL East). Some fierce competition will happen for the AL West betting odds, as the As hedge out the Astros with the Angels not far behind. The White Sox are the favorites for the AL Central Odds, with loads of young talent representing the southside. As for the 2021 NL Central Odds, it is a crapshoot. Literally. Four teams are within striking distance with only the Pirates on the outside looking in. The Reds get the odds nod over the Cardinals by a few units but the Cubs are just as close behind as well.

2021 MLB Win Totals

Oftentimes, the most popular bet for baseball is taking win totals. The 2021 MLB win totals range from around 90 games all the way down to the low 30s. While these MLB futures odds take the entire season to be graded, they can be some of the easiest bets to cash on. The totals can change at any moment before the season starts, so be sure to monitor these MLB prop bets before taking action. Of course, reviewing the 2021 MLB season schedule and breaking down each team's series opponents is a helpful guide when taking this bet. Also, rumors of trades or other notable player news can greatly affect these lines. The win totals for the 2021 MLB season can be found at many legal online MLB betting sites.

Odds To Make The MLB Playoffs

While betting on a team's win total's can come down to the final few games, bettors are also given an MLB prop bet regarding odds to make the playoffs. These odds can be heavily favored or come as longshots as well. As another MLB futures bet that takes the entire season to be graded, these bets are easily hedged as the season comes closer to the end. If the MLB team you bet on is well ahead in their division or conference, finding playoff odds later in the season on the opposite side can have you winning money betting on baseball. This MLB prop betting strategy comes in handy - just be sure to strike at the correct moment... these season long MLB bets will only be at MLB sportsbooks at random times.
